Do I need a Symtrack tracker to use Symlogger?
Symlogger ingests GPS data from a tracker. Our Symtrack units are the easiest option and integrate automatically, but we can work with data from compatible third-party trackers too. Get in touch and we'll confirm before you sign up.
How accurate is the automatic classification?
With well-drawn zones and a handful of sensible rules, most trips classify correctly from the moment they end. You can reclassify any trip manually, and the rules engine accepts as many custom conditions as you need to tighten the fit over time.
What does "SARS-compliant" or "SARS-ready" actually mean?
It means we've reviewed the South African Revenue Service's published requirements for vehicle travel logbooks and built our export format to match — date, opening and closing odometer readings, kilometres travelled, and business purpose for each trip. Symlogger is not a SARS product, partner, or endorsed service, and we don't submit anything to SARS on your behalf. Attach the export to your return or hand it to your accountant as supporting documentation; the submission remains your responsibility.
Do you share my data with SARS?
No. Your trip data, location data, and tax classifications are not shared with SARS or any tax authority. The export CSV is yours — you decide whether and how to submit it. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Is it really free to start? When do I pay?
Yes — no card needed to sign up. You can import or enter trips, classify them, and set up zones and rules completely free, and preview a one-month SARS export. You only pay when you're ready to file: unlock a full SARS tax year for any vehicle at R348, or subscribe monthly (R29/vehicle no-device, R49/vehicle with our device) so each paid month is ready to export. Nothing is ever charged automatically — you choose when to pay, via PayFast.
How does Symlogger handle my privacy?
Symlogger is POPIA compliant. Your trip data belongs to you — it isn't sold or shared, and you can export or delete it at any time. Our full Privacy Policy is linked in the footer.
Can I cancel or switch plans?
Any time, from inside the app. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel — your data stays intact as long as your account is active, and exports are always available.
